Adam DeRusha joins Oregon State staff after stints at Florida and LSU
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Four-time Olympian, member of the 2004 Olympic Hall of Fame softball team and Oregon State University softball head coach Laura Berg announced the addition of Adam DeRusha to her staff for the upcoming 2017-18 season.
"We're excited to have Adam here," said Berg. "I know he has experience at Florida and LSU with some incredible coaches and I'm excited to pick his brain.
I know he has the skills to push this team to the next level and I know he has experience at the Women's College World Series, so it'll be exciting for the team to ask him questions about his experience there since that is our ultimate goal."
DeRusha spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant at Louisiana State University, making the Women's College World Series in both years. He was responsible for setting up and leading practice drills, tracking player and team development, scouting and distributing play call cards.
"I'm thrilled to join a program that's on the rise," said DeRusha. "I've heard a lot of good things from a lot of good coaches around the country and it seemed like this is the perfect place to really start my career."
Prior to his time at LSU, DeRusha spent two seasons with the University of Florida softball team when the Gators were crowned the Division I Softball National Champions in 2014 and 2015. DeRusha was responsible for ensuring operations efficiency and organizing team equipment.
"I've heard great things about the community and the city of Corvallis," added DeRusha. "I'm excited to be a part of Oregon State Athletics."
DeRusha will be responsible for the infielders at OSU and will begin his duties immediately.
