Beavers Net Win in Home Opener

Hodgins scores first career touchdown as game-winner in fourth quarter
The Beavers moved to 1-1 on the year while the Vikings fell to 0-2.
Jake Luton finished the game with 18 completions on 25 attempts for 235 yards and one touchdown to Isaiah Hodgins late in the fourth quarter.
Ryan Nall, Darell Garretson and Trevorris Johnson all found the end zone for OSU as the Beavers combined for 154 yards on the ground.
Luton opened the deciding drive for OSU in the final quarter with five straight completions, first finding Hodgins for nine yards on the sideline to get the momentum rolling.
The Marysville, Wash., native alternated the next three completions between Nall and Hodgins to keep the drive rolling along, finding Nall for 13 yards before connecting with Hodgins for another 16. He found Nall again for eight yards, the fourth straight completion, for a second down at Portland State's 31-yardline.
Luton then went to Noah Togiai as the West Valley City, Utah, native converted a 13-yard completion into a first down with 1:30 remaining in the contest.
OSU went on the ground at that point, handing the ball to Nall for 11 yards for the fourth first down of the drive. The Beavers then converted the sixth pass of the drive from Luton to Hodgins for the go-ahead score at 35-32 with 1:08 remaining in the game.
The ensuing drive from Portland State ended at the buzzer as a 46-yard field goal attempt went wide right.
The Beavers will remain at home next week when they take on Minnesota in the final non-conference matchup of the 2017 season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT at Reser Stadium and will broadcast live on FS1.
