Track & Field’s Dumble Promoted to Associate Head Coach

CORVALLIS, Ore. – David Dumble has been promoted to associate track and field head coach, Oregon State University head coach Louie Quintana announced on Monday.
"I'm excited to announce the promotion of Coach Dumble to Associate Head Coach," said Quintana. "Dave provided the program with tremendous direction and leadership while we made the head coaching transition this summer. His experience, knowledge and positive energy make this promotion a no brainer for our program. In addition, we believe he will continue to elevate our national profile in the throwing events here in 'Throwvallis'."
Dumble, a collegiate All-American at UCLA, begins his second season at Oregon State and his first working alongside Coach Quintana in Corvallis. The two worked together previously for 15 years at Arizona State.
"He and I get along very well, and we have talked over the years when we have our failures and successes, and figured out the reasons behind them," said Dumble. "We've talked about implementing different strategies. And now that we have the helm here we are putting them into place. I'm very excited about what we can do, the sky is the limit."
Prior to Oregon State, Dumble coached his student-athletes to 24 NCAA titles and 28 Pac-10/12 Conference championships and 81 All-Americans while at Arizona State over the course of 15 years. Dumble was awarded the USTFCCCA's National Assistant Coach of the Year on five occasions.
"I want to put Oregon State on the map for track and field, but also for throwing," said Dumble. "The track world is a small world, and the throwing world is even smaller, so a lot of people know that I have moved up here. We are attracting a lot of attention from top recruits, and now that the culture is here and in place we will see a lot of success from our program and student-athletes."
During his collegiate career at UCLA, Dumble was a two-time All-American in the discus. Before enrolling at UCLA, Dumble was the California junior college state-champion in the discus, and is a member of the Bakersfield College Hall of Fame.
Dumble received his bachelor's degree in environmental studies from UCLA in 1997. He later earned a Master's of Education degree in Higher and Secondary Education from Arizona State University.
