Corvallis -- Ryan Bucher has been appointed associate athletic director for facilities and event management, Oregon State Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Barnes announced Wednesday.
Bucher comes to OSU from Rice University, where he has served on the Owls' administrative staff since 2012, and as the associate athletic director for facilities and event management since March 2014. Â While at Rice he oversaw multiple Conference USA and NCAA championship events, served as the budget manager for several facility project upgrades, and was an integral part of the athletic department's strategic planning.
"We are thrilled to be adding a leader of Ryan's caliber to our team," Barnes said. Â "His demonstrated ability to lead and manage both facilities planning and major Division I events, as well as his thoughtful and collaborative approach to management, are key assets as we continue to prioritize and strengthen our internal operations."Â
Bucher's duties at OSU include serving as the event manager for football home games, day-to-day facilities oversight, while assisting with capital project management and facilities master planning, contract management and coordinating outside agencies.
"I want to thank Scott Barnes and Dan Bartholomae for this great opportunity," Bucher said. Â "I am excited to join the OSU family and be part of an excellent university and athletic department. I look forward to playing a part in creating an amazing experience for our student-athletes, coaches, donors and fans. My family and I can't wait to get to Corvallis and the Best College Town in the Pac-12."Â
He began his professional career at the University of Miami in 2004 as the Hurricanes' assistant director of events and was promoted to director of events in 2007 before transitioning to Rice five years later.
Bucher is a 2004 graduate of San Diego State University with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and earned a Master's degree in sports administration from Miami in 2009.Â
Ryan and his wife April are the parents of two sons.
