Beavers Cruise To Another Win In Spain

MALAGA, Spain – Tres Tinkle had 20 points, six rebounds, five assists and eight steals to lead the Oregon State men's basketball team to a 110-40 win over Club Baloncesto Unicaja Malaga at the Pabellon de Los Guindos on Wednesday.

With the win, the Beavers moved to 3-0 on their Spain trip with victories over Combinado Valenciano (114-71), Multiópticas Baza (91-47) and Club Baloncesto Unicaja Malaga (110-40).

Tinkle, a redshirt sophomore forward, went 9-for-11 from the field and 2-for-2 from the stripe, and has scored 20 points in two of the three games in Spain. He had four steals in each half on Wednesday despite not playing at all in the fourth quarter.

Sophomore guard Kendal Manuel came off the bench and scored 16 points, going 6-for-8 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Freshman guard Ethan Thompson added 15 points, while the starting backcourt of junior Stephen Thompson Jr. and sophomore JaQuori McLaughlin scored 13 and 12, respectively.

The game was never in doubt, as Oregon State held a 34-7 lead after the first quarter and a 56-21 advantage at halftime. The Beavers shot 62.9 percent (22-for-35) in the first half and 69.4 percent (25-for-36) in the second half to finish at 66.2 percent (47-for-71) in the game.

Oregon State had 31 assists on its 47 baskets.

The 3-point shooting was off (2-for-11), but a tenacious defensive effort turned 25 steals into several fast break layups and dunks.

Twelve of the 14 players who saw action scored. Junior forward Drew Eubanks tallied eight points, freshman guard Zach Reichle had seven, junior center Gligorije Rakocevich added five, and senior forward Seth Berger, sophomore forward Ben Koné and freshman forward Isaac Barnes each scored four. Junior guard Tanner Sanders had two points, three assists and two steals.

The Beavers are scheduled to play their final game of the trip on Friday.
