Beavers Notch Another Win In Spain

BAZA, Spain – Oregon State used a balanced offensive attack and moved to 2-0 on its Spain trip after a 91-47 win over Multiópticas Baza at the Pabellon Municipal de Deportes on Monday.
Redshirt sophomore forward Tres Tinkle came out on fire for the second straight, posting 13 points, five rebounds and four assists in the first half to help the Beavers build a commanding 48-21 lead at the break. He played sparingly in the second half and finished the night with 15 points, including a thunderous dunk that brought the crowd to its feet.
Junior guard Stephen Thompson Jr. hit his first two shots of the game, both from beyond the arc, and finished with 13 points. He added five assists and five steals.
Kendal Manuel came off the bench to score 12 points, going 5-for-6 from the field and 2-for-3 from deep.
No other Oregon State player finished in double figures, but 11 of the 14 who played tallied points. Junior forward Drew Eubanks had nine points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots, while senior forward Seth Berger and freshman guards Ethan Thompson and Zach Reichle each scored eight points.
Sophomore forward Ben Koné had a solid all-around game with seven points, six rebounds, two assists and a block.
Junior center Gligorije Rakocevic had six points and four rebounds and senior guard Ronnie Stacy added five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The Beavers shot an even 50.0 percent (35-for-70) from the field, even though they went only 7-of-25 from beyond the arc. They also owned the hustle board with 47 rebounds, 16 steals and nine blocked shots.
Head coach Wayne Tinkle used the same starting lineup with JaQuori McLaughlin, Stephen Thompson Jr., Tres Tinkle, Drew Eubanks and Seth Berger. Ethan Thompson started in place of Berger in the second half.
The game used FIBA rules with a longer 3-point line (22 feet, 1.7 inches) a shorter shot clock (24 seconds) and four 10-minute periods.
