
Marshall Named to Preseason All-Pac-12 Team

SAN FRANCISCO – Oregon State senior outside hitter Mary-Kate Marshall has been named to the Pac-12 preseason volleyball team, it was announced Wednesday.

Marshall, a 2016 honorable mention All-American, has tallied 1,390 kills in her first three years at OSU and enters the season ranked fourth in Oregon State history.

The native of Coppell, Texas started all 61 of the Beavers' matches the two years – and 93 of a possible 94 since arriving in Corvallis – finishing with 443 kills, 26 service aces and 260 digs in 2016.

Through three seasons, she has accumulated 78 aces, 792 digs and 165 total blocks to go with her 1,390 kills. She is on pace to become the 14th player in OSU history to record 1,000 career digs.

Marshall and the rest of the Beavers host the team's annual Orange & Black Exhibition this Friday at Gill Coliseum. The event is free to the public and starts at 7 p.m. with the team signing autographs at the conclusion of the scrimmage.

OSU opens the 2017 season when it hosts the Ultra Ankle Challenge at Gill Coliseum the following weekend. The Beavers begin the tournament with a match against Idaho, Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. OSU returns to the floor that night to face Pacific at 7 p.m. The tourney concludes with the Beavers hosting Kansas State at 7 p.m. on Aug. 26.

In all, 10 letterwinners return to the fold including six starters – outside hitters Marshall and Lanesha Reagan, setter McKenna Hollingsworth, middle blockers Kory Cheshire and Serena Bruin, and libero Kayla Ellis. In addition, middle blockers Daniela Vargas and Maddy Gravley also return with starting experience. Makenna Brown, a defensive specialist, and Delaney Taylor, setter, add further experience to the returning gourp.

Joining those veterans are freshmen Maddie Goings, Grace Massey, Kylee McLaughlin and Lindsey Schell as well as junior transfer Shekinah Clarke, who will bolster the squad across the board and were named the nation's 19th-ranked recruiting class. Outside hitter Haylie Bennett, who used her redshirt year in 2016, joins the fray to complete the roster.
