Jake Mulholland: Unanimous Freshman All-American

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State left-handed pitcher Jake Mulholland has been named a First-Team Freshman All-American by D1Baseball.com, it was announced on Thursday.

With the recognition, Mulholland, a native of Snohomish, Wash., is a unanimous Freshman All-American, as he has also been honored by Collegiate Baseball, Baseball America, Perfect Game and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Mulholland went 7-1 in 2017, posting a 1.20 earned run average, which is the fourth-lowest in Oregon State history among pitchers with at least 40 innings of work. He earned six saves, struck out 44 to 12 walks and held opponents to a .183 batting average in 52 1/3 innings.

He is also the third freshman in OSU history to be named an overall All-American, joining Michael Conforto (2012) and Bryce Fehmel (2016). Mulholland was recognized as an all-Pac-12 Conference Honorable Mention selection, as voted on by the league's coaches.

Mulholland joins a prolific list of Oregon State players who have been named a Freshman All-America by multiple publications. They include Chris Pine (1996), Jacoby Ellsbury (2003), Kevin Rhoderick (2008), Sam Gaviglio (2009), Matt Boyd (2010), Conforto (2012), Jace Fry (2012), Andrew Moore (2013), KJ Harrison (2015), Mitch Hickey (2015), Drew Rasmussen (2015), Fehmel (2016) and Nick Madrigal (2016).
