
Volleyball Receives AVCA Team Academic Award

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State volleyball team has been honored with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, it was announced Monday.

The Beavers are one of two teams from the Pac-12 Conference honored, along with Stanford, and is the 10th straight year that Oregon State has garnered the prestigious award.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that display excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average during the 2016-17 academic year.

Oregon State led the conference with seven student-athletes honored academically for the 2016 season. Kory Cheshire and Lanesha Reagan were named second team members while Katelyn Driscoll, Kayla Ellis, McKenna Hollingsworth, Mary-Kate Marshall and Lila Toner each received honorable mention recognition.

The Beavers have 92 all-academic honorees since the 2005 season, which leads the Pac-12.

OSU was one of 145 NCAA Division I teams to earn the team academic honor.
