
17 Gymnasts Named Scholastic All-Americans

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Seventeen Oregon State gymnasts were named Scholastic All-Americans by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) announced this week.

The Beavers' 2017 Scholastic All-Americans include seniors Silvia Colussi-Pelaez, Madeline Gardiner, Megan Jimenez, Kaytianna McMillan and Taylor Ricci, juniors Dani Dessaints and Shireen Khamedoost, sophomores Mariana Colussi-Pelaez, Mary Jacobsen and McKenna Singley, and freshmen Halli Briscoe, Kaitlin Campbell, Lena Greene, Jaime Law, Maela Lazaro and Alyssa Minyard. In addition, former OSU gymnast, Kana Kobayashi, who retired early due to injury, also received scholastic recognition.

Oregon State posted a team grade point average of 3.6452 in 2016-17, ranking as the 10th highest overall gymnastics team GPA in the nation. The Beavers were seventh in the nation with 80.1 percent of the team earning individual honors for posting a GPA of 3.50 or higher during the 2016-17 academic year.

It is the fourth award for Silvia Colussi-Pelaez, Gardiner, Kobayashi, McMillan and Ricci. Khamedoost is a three-time recipient while Mariana Colussi-Pelaez, Dessaints, Jacobsen, Jimenez and Singley are two-time awardees.
