
Marcus McMaryion Tabbed for Wuerffel Trophy Consideration

Oregon State junior quarterback Marcus McMaryion has been selected to the Weurffel Trophy Watch List, it was announced Tuesday. The award is presented annually by the All Sports Association of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., to the college football student-athlete who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.Â
McMaryion boasts a 3.56 cumulative GPA in Public Health and has been a member of OSU's Honor Roll multiple times. He earned Pac-12 Conference Academic honors the last two seasons and is the member of the OSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.Â
He is among the team leaders for community service which includes service to the Children's Cancer Association Hope for the Holidays Initiative, Jefferson Elementary, Special Olympics, Doernbecher Children's Hospital, OSU Women's Clinic, Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis, Oregon Veteran's Home, Boys & Girls Club Holiday Tree Initiative, Oaks Senior Center, and Boy Scouts of Oregon.
On the field, McMaryion has started seven games for his career, accounting for 1,860 passing yards with 11 touchdowns. He tossed five touchdown passes, the second-most ever by a Beaver quarterback, in last season's victory over Arizona.
McMaryion joins Ryan Nall (Maxwell Award), Manase Hungalu (Butkus), Sumner Houston (Rimington Trophy) and Nick Porebski (Ray Guy Award), as of Tuesday, on watch lists for the 2017 season.Â
Oregon State returns to the practice field later this month in preparation for the 2017 football season. Season tickets and mini plans are available at BeaverTickets.com for the six-game home schedule that includes visits from Portland State, Minnesota, Washington, Colorado, Stanford, and Arizona State.Â
Fans are invited to join the team in Bend on Friday, August 4 for a scrimmage and Fan Fest at Summit High School. The scrimmage starts at 4:30 p.m. PT, with Fan Fest slated from 6-7:30 p.m. The Fan Fest includes inflatables, autographs and more. Fan Fest is free.
The following week, on Saturday, August 12, fans are again invited to a team scrimmage, at Reser Stadium, starting at noon. Following the scrimmage, at approximately 1:30 p.m., it will be time for Family Fun Day, also featuring autographs, inflatables and at 3 p.m., a movie on the videoboard at Reser Stadium, sponsored by Paventy and Brown Orthodontics. Like Fan Fest, Family Fun Day is free to attend.
