Women’s Rowers Secure 15 Pac-12 Academic Honors

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Fourteen members of the Oregon State women's rowers were named to the Pac-12 Women's Rowing All-Academic team when it was announced by the Conference on Friday.
Six Beavers earned first team accolades including seniors Alyssa Beamer (industrial engineering), Lihani du Plessis (BioHealth sciences), and Tess O'Leary (agricultural business management), junior Olivia Ashby (business marketing), sophomore Alina Hagstrom (public health) and redshirt freshman Diana Oppenheimer (biology). It is the three consecutive first team award for du Plessis and O'Leary and is the third academic award for Beamer, who was a second team honoree the last two years. It is also the second award for Ashby, who also earned second team honors in 2016.
Oregon State also place a pair on the second team list including senior Joely Hannan (biochemistry and biophysics) and sophomore Eliza Adams (business). It is the second straight second team honor for Hannan.
Earning honorable mention all-academic honors were juniors Mimi Grosselius and Paige Phillips, as well as sophomores Mimi Ballinger, Katie Descheemaeker, Claire Diller, Liz Matzdorf and Maddie Vinson. It is the second such award for Phillips.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and participate in at least half of their team's competitions.
