June 30, 2017 | Men's Golf
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Noah Goldman, who was an assistant men's golf coach at Mississippi State University the past three years, will join the Oregon State program in a similar role, head coach Jon Reehoorn announced Friday.
"I am excited and thankful for the opportunity to work for a university as highly respected as Oregon State," Goldman said. "The golf facilities and university values are first class. I look forward to helping Coach Reehoorn continue building the men's golf program with the type of student-athletes that will make Beaver Nation proud."
"I'm excited to welcome Noah, his wife Ashley, and daughter Ellie to Corvallis," Reehoorn said. "As a player, coach and recruiter, Noah has been successful because of his character, work ethic and desire to compete. He will be a tremendous asset for our players to learn from. I'm looking forward to getting all of us back to campus in September to get the season started."
Goldman was the assistant men's golf coach at Mississippi State the past three years, an assistant coach for the men's and women's programs at Nova Southeastern University from 2012-14 and a volunteer assistant with the women's golf program at Samford University from 2011-12.
During his time in Starkville, Goldman helped lead the Bulldogs to 10 top-five finishes and two individual tournament medalists, while improving all three years in the final Golfstat rankings. He recruited and coached Peng Pichaikool to the All-SEC Freshman Team and an individual spot at the NCAA Regional Championships. Goldman also helped with the development of a new $3.3 million team building and practice facility.
Before returning to his alma mater, Goldman spent two seasons as an assistant golf coach with the men's and women's programs at Nova Southeastern. The men's team placed second at the Division II National Championship in 2014 and finished in the top 3 in 10 tournaments, including the team title at the Armstrong Pirate Invitational. In 2013, they finished first in the final NCAA II Golfstat rankings and third at the NCAA Division II National Championship after losing in a tiebreaker in the semifinals.
The women's team won the team title at the Lady Bucs Invitational, qualified for NCAA Regionals and finished seventh in the final Golfstat rankings in 2014. The previous year, they won seven team titles, placed second at the NCAA Division II Championship and finished first in the final Golfstat rankings.
During one year at Samford, Goldman helped the women's golf program claim nine top-10 finishes, including two team titles and five top-5 finishes.
Goldman competed on the Hooters Golf Tour and the Peach State Tour from September 2009 through June 2011.
During four seasons at Mississippi State, Goldman had the third-most wins (4), the fifth-lowest scoring average (73.99) and the third-lowest round (64) in program history. He was named the SEC Golfer of the Week twice and was selected to the GCAA Division I All-Region Team.
Goldman was a standout in the classroom, earning GCAA Academic All-America honors and Mississippi State's nomination for the SEC Boyd McWhorter Post-Graduate Scholarship. He was a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar, a Mississippi State University President Scholar and selected to the SEC and Mississippi State Honor Rolls.
A native of Longwood, Fla., Goldman earned two degrees from Mississippi State, a bachelor of business administration in 2008 and a master of business administration in 2009.
