
Wiese and Stanton Win Hansen Medal

Award honors top seniors
CORVALLIS – Women's basketball's Sydney Wiese and football's Dustin Stanton have been selected as Oregon State's Tom Hansen Conference Medal winners, the Pac-12 announced Tuesday.
A Conference Medal is awarded annually to each member institution's outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.
Wiese graduated with a bachelor's degree in speech communication. A native of Phoenix, Ariz., she won the 2017 Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes the top student-athlete nationally in each sport for their achievements athletically, academically and in the community. The point-guard was a CoSIDA Academic All-American and three-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection. On the floor, Wiese was named to numerous All-America teams, and is one of 14 women's basketball players in Pac-12 history to make the all-conference team all four years of her career. The sharpshooter set the Pac-12 record for career 3-pointers, as well as the Oregon State record for career assists.
???????Wiese is the fourth Oregon State women's basketball player to win the Hansen Medal, joining Chelle Flamoe (1983), Margo Evashevski ('93) and Ruth Hamblin (2016).
Stanton, a native of Marysville, Wash., earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with an option in entrepreneurship. He earned Pac-12 Academic honors four times, including being named to the First Team three years. On the football field, he made 30 career starts as an offensive lineman and signed a free agent contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. In addition to his academic and athletic abilities, Stanton performed over 30 hours of community service during the 2016-17 academic year.
