
Three Beavers Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State baseball is No. 1 nationally on the field. It turns out, the Beavers are No. 1 in the classroom as well.

Jack Anderson, KJ Harrison and Jake Thompson were all named to the CoSIDA (Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-District 8 team. Oregon State is the only Division-I team across the eight districts to have three players selected.

All three are now eligible to become Academic All-Americans – that list is scheduled to be announced June 2.

To be eligible to be honored academically by CoSIDA, student-athletes must be a starter or a significant reserve, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or above and not be a freshman or first-year transfer. Voting is done by members of CoSIDA from each district. District 8 is comprised of the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

Anderson is a kinesiology major who holds a 3.72 GPA. He will take a .322 batting average into this weekend's series with California, adding two doubles, a triple and 12 runs batted in. A redshirt junior from Lake Oswego, Ore., he was a Pac-12 Conference All-Academic First Team selection in 2016.

Harrison is no stranger to academic honors – he was an All-District 8 selection in 2016 and honorable mention by the Pac-12. A business major, he sports a 3.43 cumulative GPA. The junior from Kailua, Hawaii, is batting .329 with 11 doubles, four triples and a team-best 25 RBI this season.

Thompson was also a Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention in 2016. An economics major, he holds a 3.60 cumulative GPA. Thompson, a Florence, Ore., native, is tied for the lead nationally with nine wins and is fourth with a 1.07 earned run average. Teams are batting just .159 against him in 76 innings.

The Beavers hold the highest cumulative team GPA among men's teams at Oregon State. The team's GPA entering the spring term stood at 3.30. The club finished with a 3.17 GPA in the winter, with 25 student-athletes at 3.0 or better.
