Going For 50
A win Friday would put the Beavers at 50 wins for just the third time in school history. Oregon State's 2013 club set the record with 52, in a College World Series season, while the 2006 National Champions went 50-16.Â
16 Straight
Oregon State carries the nation's longest active win streak at 16 games into Friday's opener. The Beavers, of course, hold the longest of the year at 23 games, which spanned late February into mid-April. OSU also has the longest active home winning streak at 12.
National Honors
Luke Heimlich and Nick Madrigal both earned national honors on Wednesday. Both were named as semifinalists (25 total) for the 2017 Golden Spikes Award. Earlier in the day, Heimlich was also named one of five finalists for the College Baseball Hall of Fame's National Pitcher of the Year award.
Academics, Too
Oregon State tallied a school-record 16 student-athletes named Pac-12 All-Academic on Tuesday. OSU led the league with three First-Teamers - Jack Anderson, Max Engelbrekt and Jake Thompson - and three Second-Teamers - Andy Atwood, Cadyn Grenier and Michael Gretler.
Singles
• Oregon State has won 10 consecutive NCAA Regional opening-games dating to 2005.
• OSU is 1-0 against the Patriot League, defeating Lafayette, 11-5, in 1991.
