Three Men’s Golfers Earn All-Academic Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Jonas Liebich and Trevor Yu were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team and Conner Kumpula received Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday.
Liebich, a junior from Ingolstadt, Germany, earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors for the second straight year for his 3.40 cumulative GPA in business/finance. He earned honorable mention recognition last year. Liebich played in 11 tournaments this past season and posted a scoring average of 74.21. His best finish was a tie for 13th place at the Saint Mary's Invitational and his best score was a 2-under 70 in four different rounds.
Yu, a sophomore from Vancouver, British Columbia, was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team in his first eligible year for his 3.59 cumulative GPA in digital communication arts. He played in six tournaments this past season and had a scoring average of 75.05. His recorded a career-best tie for ninth place at the Bandon Dunes Championship and carded a career-best 2-under 70 in the first and third rounds at Bandon Dunes.
Kumpula, a senior from Albany, Ore., received Pac-12 All-Academic honors for the third straight year for his 3.32 cumulative GPA in industrial engineering. He was named to the Second Team last year and received Honorable Mention recognition as a sophomore. Kumpula played in the first five tournaments before missing the spring season with an injury. He won the individual title at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational where he broke the Oregon State three-round record with a 15-under 198.
An Oregon State men's golfer has now earned conference all-academic honors all 22 years since the recognition began in 1996.
In order to be eligible for the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.00 or better and must be a starter or significant contributor.
