Oregon State nets APR Public Recognition Award for second-straight season
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State women's basketball team has earned the NCAA Academic Progress Rate Public Recognition Award for the second-straight season.
The NCAA's APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each academic term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport. The top 10 percent of APR performers in each sport are honored with the Public Recognition Award.
The Beavers are one of four Pac-12 women's basketball teams to earn the award this season, and Oregon State joins Colorado and Stanford as the only programs in the conference to garner the honor in each of the last two years.
Oregon State had three players earn Pac-12 All-Academic honors this season, and has had a total of 21 conference academic honors over the last four seasons. Senior guard Sydney Wiese highlighted the Beavers' academic achievement in 2016-17, winning the Senior CLASS and Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year awards, and garnering Academic All-America honors.
On the floor, Oregon State won its third-straight Pac-12 title this season, and made the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive year. The Beavers made their second-straight appearance in the Sweet 16, on their way to a 31-5 record, the second-best mark in program history.
