Beavers Win On A Walkoff Again
May 26, 2017 | Baseball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Jack Anderson's run-scoring single in the 11th inning sent the top-ranked Oregon State baseball team to a 5-4 win over Abilene Christian Friday night in front of 3,605 at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.
Â
Anderson drove a 2-0 pitch from reliever Cyle Watkins through the left side of the infield, enabling Andy Atwood to score from second and cap a come-from-behind win that saw the Beavers (47-4) score the game's final five runs.
Â
Elliott Cary drove home the game-tying run in the ninth when he walked on a 3-2 pitch. Oregon State had loaded the bases with two down against reliever Brandon Lambright. Cary, who was pinch hitting for Zak Taylor, fouled off a 3-2 pitch before taking a pitch low and inside.
Â
Trevor Larnach started Oregon State's night offensively with a three-run home run in the sixth inning. His third home run of the season, it pulled the Beavers to within one after Abilene Christian scored a pair of runs in both the third and fourth innings.
Â
Brandon Eisert earned the win after holding the Wildcats (13-41) to three hits and a walk in five scoreless innings. He improved to 4-0 on the year. Watkins took the loss, meanwhile, dropping to 0-1 after giving up three hits and a run in 1 1/3 innings.
Â
The walkoff marked the Beavers' sixth at Goss Stadium this season, with the first five coming during Pac-12 Conference play.
