OSU Opens Series With 9-0 Win

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Luke Heimlich held Abilene Christian scoreless over eight innings and Jack Anderson and Preston Jones each tallied two hits to pace top-ranked Oregon State to a 9-0 win Thursday night at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

Heimlich scattered four hits and over his eight innings of work to earn his 10th win of the season, which also pushed the Beavers to 46 victories, a school record for most in the regular season. He struck out six, lowering his earned run average to a national-best 0.81.

Jones tripled and doubled for his first career multiple-hit effort, driving in three. Anderson, meanwhile, went 2-for-5 with two RBI.

The Beavers (46-4) managed six hits on the night but also walked nine times, equaling a season-high.

Austin Lambright issued all nine walks, giving up two hits and six runs while striking out seven for the Wildcats (13-40). He dropped to 0-4 on the year.

Oregon State saw 3,432 fans at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field Thursday. Oregon State has now had 14 crowds of 3,000 or more this season. The Beavers have totaled 72,466 fans through 22 home dates this season – 23 games, with one counting as a single-ticket doubleheader. That is an average of 3,150 per home date.

The 9-0 win marked Oregon State's 12th shutout of the season, which leads the nation. The Beavers are now three shy of tying the 2014 team's school record of 15.
