CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State Softball team had four student-athletes earn All-Conference honors, announced by the league office on Monday, May 15.
Designated player/first baseman Alysha Everett highlighted the Beavers with a Pac-12 second team honor. The junior is batting .316 and leading the team in doubles (11), home runs (8) and RBI (45). This is the second conference honor she earned after being named to the All-Freshman team in 2015.
Shortstop McKenna Arriola, pitcher Taylor Cotton and infielder Natalie Hampton were named to the Pac-12 third team.
This is Arriola's third consecutive season earning Pac-12 honors after the junior was named to the Freshman Honorable Mention team in 2015 and to the All-Defensive and First-Team in 2016. The shortstop is second on the team in batting average with a .356 mark and leads the team in on-base percentage with a .446 scratch. She also is tied for second in stolen bases on the team with a perfect 10-for-10. Heading into the postseason she has the second most multiple hit games with 14, including a team high nine three-plus games and a nine-game on-base streak.
Taylor Cotton has developed herself into a starting pitcher for Oregon State this season. After transferring from California before her sophomore season, she has shrunk her ERA down to 2.44 ERA heading into the tournament. She has started 27 games so far this season and has thrown 14 complete games, including seven shutouts – which include two against top-10 teams. She also threw her first career no-hitter against Miami (Ohio) earlier this season. This is her first all-conference honor.
Natalie Hampton earned her fourth Pac-12 honor of her career after being named to the Pac-12 third team. The redshirt senior was named to the second team in 2013, honorable mention in 2015 and third team in 2016. Hampton has cemented her name in the Oregon State record books in numerous categories including holding the RBI record with 158.
Oregon State opens the NCAA Tournament at the Waco Regional on Friday against James Madison. The first pitch is set for 2:00 p.m. PT on ESPN3.
