Noah Togiai Receives Medical Hardship
May 15, 2017 | Football
Oregon State head football coach Gary Andersen announced Monday that tight end Noah Togiai has been granted a medical hardship for the 2016 season by the Pac-12 Conference Faculty Athletics Representatives Committee.
Â
The 6-4, 244-pound tight end from West Valley, Utah, injured a knee on the opening play of the second game of last season against Idaho State. He made four receptions for 31 yards and had a touchdown receiving in the season opener at Minnesota, and for his career has 11 receptions for 104 yards and two touchdowns. He will be officially listed as a redshirt sophomore for the upcoming season.
Â
"I'm very thankful for the opportunity to have my sophomore year back," Togiai said. "It was a long and tough year for me, but I've been working extremely hard this offseason to get back on the field and be a contributor. I want to thank my family, coaches, teammates and all of Beaver Nation for their support. I'm excited for the future of this program and hope to see Reser Stadium full this season. Go Beavs!"
Â
NCAA guidelines for a medical hardship includes an incapacitating injury that occurs during the first half of the season and the individual has not competed in more than 30 percent of the scheduled competitions.
