Mulholland and the Beavers open a three-game series with USC Friday
GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Chalk up another honor for freshman Jake Mulholland.

The Snohomish, Wash., native was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Watch List on Wednesday. The honor comes a couple weeks after the left-hander was named the Pac-12 Conference's Pitcher of the Week.

He is one of 40 pitchers on the midseason list.

Mulholland carries a 5-0 record into this weekend's series with USC, and his earned run average of 1.02 is second in the nation. He's tied for the team lead with five saves, has struck out 33 to just seven walks and 21 hits in 35 1/3 innings and opponents are batting .171 against him. He leads the club with 17 appearances this season, all in relief.

Mulholland is one of four pitchers from the Pac-12 on the midseason watch list, and nationally, he is one of four freshmen.

The award is given annually to the top relief pitcher in college baseball.
