Last Game
Cadyn Grenier and KJ Harrison each homered and Jake Thompson allowed one run in a career-long 8 1/3 innings to send top-ranked Oregon State to a 5-1 win over Utah Sunday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field. Â Thompson allowed one hit over his career-long 8 1/3 innings, walking three with seven strikeouts. His lone hit allowed was a two-out double by DaShawn Keirsey, Jr., that scored Josh Rose from second. Thompson, a Florence, Ore., native, picked up the win to improve to 7-0, which ties him for the Pac-12 lead.
Upon Further Review
Due to an incorrect listing in the Pac-12 Conference record book, the Beavers did not tie the league record for consecutive wins with Sunday's victory. Arizona State won 24 straight in 2010 - the Beavers can tie that mark with a win Tuesday against Gonzaga.
Mulholland The Award Winner
Jake Mulholland became the fourth different OSU player to be named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week this season, on Monday. He went 2-0 with a save in the Beavers' 4-0 week. He joins Luke Heimlich, Bryce Fehmel and Jake Thompson. OSU is the first conference school to have four different winners in the same season since the 1999 league unification.
Grenier's Last 8
Cadyn Grenier has been on fire over his last eight games - he's hit safely in each - where he has gone 11-for-31 (.355) with eight RBI, three walks and three home runs. He has a slugging percentage of .645 over that stretch.
Against Gonzaga
The Beavers were originally scheduled to play Gonzaga in Surprise but a change added a game against Indiana, subtracting the matchup with the Bulldogs. OSU is 64-33 all-time against Gonzaga, with a 26-11 mark at home - Pat Casey is 20-11 as head coach. The teams last played in 2014, a 4-3 OSU win.
Singles
• For those in the Portland area, the game will air on 103.7 FM, in addition to OSUBeavers.com and via the TuneIn app.
• The Beavers are consensus No. 1 for the third consecutive week. Collegiate Baseball has had OSU at No. 1 for five straight weeks. D1Baseball.com has OSU there for four.
