Seven Beavers Earn Pac-12 All-Academic Honors
March 07, 2017 | Men's Basketball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Seven Oregon State men's basketball student-athletes received Pac-12 All-Academic honors, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday.
Daine Muller, Gligorije Rakocevic and Stephen Thompson Jr. were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team, Tres Tinkle was selected to the Second Team, and Matt Dahlen, Drew Eubanks and Tanner Sanders earned honorable mention recognition.
The most Pac-12 All-Academic selections Oregon State had previously in a year was two in 2000, 2005, 2006, 2011, 2012 and 2014.
Oregon State had seven selections this year, while California, Oregon, Stanford and Utah each had three, and Colorado, UCLA, USC and Washington State each had one.
To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor. The Pac-12 All-Academic regulations define a "starter or significant substitute" as having participated in 50 percent of a team's scheduled contests, except in unusual circumstances, such as injury.
First Team
Muller, a junior from Billings, Mont., has a 3.83 cumulative GPA in kinesiology; Rakocevic, a sophomore from Bijelo Polje, Montenegro, has a 3.66 cumulative GPA in digital communication arts; and Thompson Jr. has a 3.49 cumulative GPA in digital communication arts.
Second Team
Tinkle, a sophomore from Missoula, Mont., has a 3.44 cumulative GPA in university exploratory studies.
