CORVALLIS, Ore. – Drew Eubanks had 21 points and 12 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season on Saturday in an 80-59 loss to No. 6 Oregon before a season-high crowd of 9,201 at Gill Coliseum.
A sophomore from Troutdale, Eubanks was 8 of 12 from the field, hit all five free throws and had two assists, two blocked shots and an assist while logging 37 minutes. It was his ninth career double-double and the 24th time he's scored in double figures this season.
The Beavers (5-26, 1-17 Pac-12) led early and were on top 11-8 following a layup by freshman guard JaQuori McLaughlin with 13:41 remaining in the first half. Oregon answered with a 14-2 run to assume a 22-13 advantage as OSU went scoreless for six minutes.
However, a layup by Gligorije Rakocevic ignited a 9-0 OSU run and the Beavers drew even, 22-22, with 4:10 left in the half on a Eubanks layup. Rakocevic had four of his eight points in that stretch.
Oregon (27-4, 16-2) closed out the half with an 8-2 run to take a 32-24 lead at intermission. The Beavers had outrebounded the Ducks 28-18 at that point, enabling them to stay within striking distance.
Oregon outscored OSU 21-6 in the first seven minutes, though, and built a 53-30 advantage with 13:34 to play. OSU did not get closer than 17 (68-51) the rest of the way.
Sophomore guard Stephen Thompson Jr. added 10 points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal. He has now hit double figures 22 times this season and 43 times in his career.
Redshirt freshman guard Kendal Manuel grabbed a career-best eight rebounds to augment his six points and two assists. McLaughlin added seven points, four assists and a steal.
The 348th game between the rivals was part of the Civil War Series, sponsored by PacificSource Health Plans, Spirit Mountain Casino, Safeway/Albertsons and Your Local Toyota Dealers. OSU enjoys a wide 186-162 advantage.
The game concluded the regular season. The Beavers will play California at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Las Vegas in the opening round of the Pac-12 Tournament.
