Reichle Named Oregon Player Of The Year

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State men's basketball signee Zach Reichle was named the 2016-17 Gatorade Oregon Boys Basketball Player of the Year on Monday.
The award recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court. Reichle is a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award to be announced in March
Reichle, a 6-foot-5 guard, averaged 24.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game and led Wilsonville High to a 27-1 record and the Class 5A state championship.
He carries a 3.98 cumulative GPA and has volunteered by feeding the homeless and helping young children learn to read.
As a Gatorade Player of the Year, Reichle will be able to select a national or local youth sports to receive a grant as part of the Gatorade Play It Forward program. Every Gatorade Player of the Year state winner receives a $1,000 grant to donate and will have the opportunity to enter for an additional $10,000 spotlight grant by writing a brief essay explaining why their selected organization deserves additional support.
Reichle signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Oregon State men's basketball program for the 2017-18 season. He was recently featured on osubeavers.com at this link.
