SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Oregon State senior All-American Kaytianna McMillan was named the Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week for March 6-12 when weekly honors were announced by the Pac-12 Conference office Tuesday.
Â
McMillan, who hails from Coburg, Ore., achieved perfection on the uneven bars in Saturday's Senior Day win over Illinois-Chicago. She became the first Oregon State gymnast to earn a perfect 10.0 in nine years when Tasha Smith accomplished the feat on the floor exercise Feb. 22, 2008. It is the first 10.0 on the bars since Elizabeth Jillson in 2003.
Â
The human development and family sciences major, went on to post a career-best 39.650 in the all-around to tie the third-highest all-around score in program history. Her effort helped lead the Beavers to victory over the Flames, 197.475-193.550. OSU's team score goes down as the fifth-highest score in school history.
Â
In addition to her bars and all-around titles, McMillan also tallied the meet-high with a 9.950 on the floor exercise. She added matching scores of 9.850 on vault and beam. She now ranks seventh in the nation and is third in the conference in the all-around.
Â
This is McMillan's second career Gymnast of the Week honor and second of the season and is Oregon State's 28th all-time.
Â
The Beavers, who are ranked No. 10 this week, are at Pac-12 Championships this Saturday. They will compete in the second session as the third seed beginning at 6 p.m. at Stanford's Maples Pavilion on Pac-12 Network.
