CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State head women's soccer coach Linus Rhode announced Monday the hiring of Vanessa Valentine to the Beaver coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Valentine joins Beaver Nation from Seattle Pacific University where she served as the head assistant women's soccer coach since 2016. The Falcons finished the 2016 season 11-5-4 while earning a NCAA Playoff berth.
"I would first like to thank Linus Rhode and Michelle Voiland for this amazing opportunity to be joining the Oregon State women's soccer team,' said Vanessa Valentine. "Being a part of such a prestigious program and University has been a dream of mine. I look forward to helping continue the success that this team has acquired and to be working with such an elite group of female student athletes. These young ladies posses passion, determination, and a strong will to be the best; all qualities that I feel are important for any successful program. I am eager to get started and help bring in some of the top recruits from across the country. Thank you again to Linus, Michelle, and the OSU Athletic Department for bringing me into the Beaver family. GO BEAVS!"
The native of California has a wealth of coaching at many levels, while also having playing experience to complement an impressive collegiate and professional resume.
"We are really excited for Vanessa to be here," said head coach Linus Rhode. "She brings a lot of coaching experience and has a very strong recruiting network, in both the Pacific Northwest and in California.

"She has coached at many different levels, from youth to Division II and knows what it takes run a whole program," continued Rhode. "She knows what it takes to get to the playoffs, as both a coach and a player. She brings a lot of good energy and will get along with the girls very well."
