The Beavers rapped out 12 hits against four Nebraska pitchers

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Luke Heimlich scattered seven hits and a run in seven innings and KJ Harrison drove in three on the strength of a 3-for-4 day in Oregon State baseball's 10-1 win over Nebraska Thursday afternoon at Surprise Stadium.

Heimlich, the reigning Pac-12 Conference Pitcher of the Week, walked one and struck out four to improve to 1-0 on the year. The lefty has worked 12 2/3 innings this season, allowing 12 hits and three walks while striking out 15.

Harrison, meanwhile, singled in the first, doubled in the second, and singled again in the fourth. The junior, who now has five runs batted in through the first five games of the season, drove in one in the first and two more in the second as the Beavers pushed out to a 6-1 through two innings.

Nick Madrigal reached base five times, with three hits, and a walk and getting on base via an error. He doubled in the first, and singled twice more, scoring three runs in the process.

Oregon State (5-0) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first, recording six hits off Nebraska (1-2) starter Matt Waldron, who took the loss to drop to 0-2. Harrison, Trevor Larnach and Elliott Cary singled home runs during the frame, and Cadyn Grenier was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to make it 4-0 in favor of Oregon State.

Starters
Luke Heimlich's outing marked the third Oregon State quality start this season. The Oregon State starters, which consist of Heimlich, Bryce Fehmel, Sam Tweedt and Jake Thompson, have combined to work 30 innings this season. The group has scattered 25 hits over that stretch, allowing seven runs – five earned – and eight walks. They've also struck out 29.

Oregon State WHIP
WHIP stands for walks plus hits per innings pitched. And the Oregon State staff has been phenomenal this season. Oregon State has allowed 31 hits and 14 walks in 45 innings this season for a WHIP of 1.0.

Nick Being Nick
Nick Madrigal hasn't missed a step from his Pac-12 Freshman of the Year campaign. Through five games – and after going 3-for-4 Thursday – he is 9-for-19 (.474) with two doubles, a home run and four RBI this season.

Say Hello To 5-0
The win Thursday put the Beavers at 5-0 for the first time since 2013, and for the 20^th time in program history. Oregon State will be looking to go 6-0, also for the first time since 2013, when playing Ohio State on Friday. The Beavers have been 6-0 16 times.

Multi-Hit
Nick Madrigal and KJ Harrison each had three hits Thursday while Adley Rutschman finished with two. Madrigal now has three multi-hit efforts this year, while Harrison stands at two. Rutschman's two hits gave him his first career multi-hit effort.
