Beavers Finish Eighth At Peg Barnard Invite

STANFORD, Calif. – The Oregon State women's golf team opened their spring season with an eighth-place finish at the 22nd Annual Peg Barnard Invitational on Sunday.

The Beavers shot a 33-over 303-298--601 at the par-71, 6,084-yard Stanford Golf Course to finish the two-day, 36-hole tournament in eighth.

No. 1 Stanford won the 12-team event with a 3-over 571, while Oregon (13-over 581) and Colorado (19-over 587) rounded out the top three.

Senior Elyse Smidinger fired an 1-over 72 in the final round to rocket 15 spots up the leaderboard and finish in a team-best tie for 18th place with a 7-over 77-72--149.

Sophomore Olivia Benzin finished in a tie for 24h place with an 8-over 75-75--150 and junior Hannah Swanson was a stroke back with a 9-over 74-77--151 for a tie for 29th place.

Freshman Nicole Schroeder finished in a tie for 38th with an 11-over 79-74--153 and junior Susie Cavanagh shot a 12-over 77-77--154 for 44th place.

Andrea Lee of Stanford won medalist honors with an 8-under 134.

The Beavers return to action on Sunday, Feb. 26 and Monday, Feb. 27 at the Westbrook Spring Invitational in Peoria, Ariz.
