Beavers Conclude First Round At Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – Hannah Swanson shot a 3-over 74 to lead the Oregon State women's golf team in the opening round of the 22nd Annual Peg Barnard Invitational on Saturday.

The Beavers carded a 19-over 303 at the par-71, 6,084-yard Stanford Golf Course and are tied for eighth place in the 12-team field.

The final round of the two-day, 36-hole tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday with a shotgun start and live scoring is available on golfstat.com.

Swanson, a junior from Forest Grove, Ore., had back-to-back birdies on the par-3, 166-yard third hole and the par-3, 146-yard fourth hole and finished with a 73. She's tied for 15th place in the 60-player field and looks to record her second career top-10 finish on Sunday.

Sophomore Olivia Benzin also had two birdies and is a stroke back with a 4-over 75 for a tie for 20th place.

Senior Elyse Smidinger and junior Susie Cavanagh both carded a 6-over 77 and are tied for 33rd place, while freshman Nicole Schroeder opened with an 8-over 79.

No. 1 Stanford leads the tournament with a 2-over 286, Oregon is second with an 8-over 292 and Colorado rounds out the top three with a 9-over 283. Only two golfers shot a round in red figures, led by Andrea Lee of Stanford with a 4-under 67.
