
Manase Hungalu Named Polynesian Player Of The Year Finalist

Hungalu had 97 tackles to lead the Beavers in 2017
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State senior linebacker Manase Hungalu has been named a finalist for the 2017 Polynesian Player of the Year Award.
Hungalu is one of five finalists for the honor, which is given annually to the most outstanding college football player of Polynesian Ancestry. Hungalu hails from Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i.
He recently completed his Oregon State career with 97 tackles as a senior, adding 2.5 sacks, six tackles for loss and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown against Portland State. Hungalu racked up 20 tackles in the game against California, tying him for fourth-most all-time at Oregon State, and was named the Pac-12 Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
???????Hungalu, who is due to graduate with a degree in sociology this month, played in 36 career games for the Beavers. He finished with 223 tackles, 11.5 for loss, along with 2.5 sacks, four interceptions and 12 pass deflections.
The 2017 winner of the award will be announced on December 12. The formal presentation of the Award will be held at the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Celebration Dinner (January 19, 2018) along with being recognized during the Polynesian Bowl (January 20, 2018).
