Beavers face off with Aztecs on Saturday at Aztec Aquaplex
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State University swimming program will resume the winter schedule with a dual meet against San Diego State on Saturday, December 30, at the Aztec Aquaplex.
The Beavers last took to the water on December 1 for the 69th Husky Invitational at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. OSU finished fourth among all college teams on the women's side with 361 team points.
Sophomore Felicia Anderson (Portland, Ore.) and junior Arianna Letrari (Bolzano, Italy) led the way for the Orange and Black at the invite as the duo posted a combined six NCAA B Standard times during the three-day event. Anderson clocked her times in the 100 back (twice) and 200 back, while Letrari added times in the 200 IM, 100 fly and 200 fly.
Anderson added a first-place finish in the 100 back on the second day of the invite with a time of 54.48, while Letrari took the top spot in the 100 fly with a time of 53.75.
Sophomore Merritt Allen (Bend, Ore.) also turned in a strong performance at the invite, taking 20th in the 500 free with a time of 5:05.45 on day one while added a finish in the 21st position in the 100 fly with a time of 56.94.
Oregon State squared off with San Diego State twice in the 2016-17 season, first in a dual on Nov. 4 before facing off in a tri-meet alongside Southwestern Oregon Community College on Nov. 5. The Aztecs took both decisions.
Anderson, then a freshman, helped spearhead the Beavers in the pool as she took first in the 100 back and led the 200 medley relay team to a first-place finish at the Nov. 4 dual. She added the sweep in the 100 back at the Nov. 5 tri with another first-place finish.
