Duo post NCAA B Standard times as OSU sits eighth after first day of competition
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Sophomore Felicia Anderson (Portland, Ore.) and junior Arianna Letrari (Bolzano, Italy) led the Oregon State swimming program on Friday at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash., in the first day of the 69th Husky Invitational.
The duo both posted NCAA B Standard times as Letrari touched the wall in 2:00.94 in the 200 IM while Anderson clocked a time of 54.42 in the first leg of the 400 medley relay as the backstroke specialist. Anderson eclipsed her previous best in the 100 back by nearly a half second, originally set in the 2017 Pac-12 Championships.
Letrari placed ninth in the 200 IM 'B' final of the invite as her time bested her previous record by almost 10 seconds. Anderson placed 13th in the same event with a time of 2:04.89, also setting a new PR in the water.
Sophomore Merritt Allen (Bend, Ore.) was the third Beaver swimmer to place in the finals as her time of 5:05.45 in the 500 free 'C' final earned her the 20th position. Allen was less than one second off her personal best time in the event.
Anderson and Rodriguez teamed up with freshman Fernanda Rodriguez (Portland, Ore.) and senior captain Noemie Midrez (Verviers, Liège, Belgium) in the 400 medley relay to place sixth in the event with a time of 3:50.39 to close the first day of the invite for the Orange and Black.
