Oregon State see pair earn CoSIDA honor
CORVALLIS – Oregon State placed a pair of players on the CoSIDA Academic All-District squads on Thursday, as seniors Kathryn Baker and Bella Geist were both honored for their achievements in the classroom.
Baker was selected to the Academic All-District First Team, as she prepares to graduate with a robust 3.87 GPA as an environmental engineering major. The defender was a constant fixture of the Oregon State back-line over the last five years, making the starting lineup in all 70 matches she played. Baker is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection, and capped off her academic career with a senior project that included designing a waste-water treatment plant.
Geist earned Academic All-District Second Team honors, posting a 3.78 GPA as a biology major. The senior will go down as one of the greatest goalkeepers in Oregon State history, setting a school record with 394 career saves – the third-best total in Pac-12 history. Over the course of her career, Geist held 18 clean sheets in 72 starts. She joins Baker as a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection.
