November 08, 2017 | Women's Volleyball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State volleyball program officially welcomed the addition of Nya Buckner following the receipt of her National Letter of Intent, head coach Mark Barnard announced Wednesday.
Buckner, a native of Chandler, Ariz., joins the program from Hamilton High School where she was twice chosen as the team's most improved player. In 2016, Buckner helped lead her team to the state semifinal match.
Buckner, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter, was a first team all-state selection in 2016. She helped her Aspire VB club teams to a fifth place finishes at the 2016 and '17 Girls Junior National Championships tournaments.
"Nya is a very quick, athletic player," Barnard said. "She is an aggressive blocker and a low error hitter. She simply has athletic ability that cannot be taught. She will be a fantastic addition to an already excellent 2017 freshman class."
