CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State senior outside hitter Mary-Kate Marshall has named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 First Team for the second straight year, the organization announced on Thursday.
Â
Marshall, a kinesiology major with an option in pre-therapy and allied health, is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree and was also a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in 2016. She is also a 2017 finalist for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award.
Â
Marshall ranks second in the Pac-12 Conference and 12th in the nation with 4.55 kills per set in 2017. Earlier this season, she became the first Oregon State player to earn Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors in three separate weeks in a single season. She ranks second in Oregon State history with 1,840 career kills and recently became the sixth player in OSU history to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career.
Â
She has helped lead the Beavers to several milestones this season, including OSU's first five-match conference win streak since 1990, the first win over Washington since 2001 and the first win over Arizona in Tucson since 1993.
Â
The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) recognizes the top student-athletes in their sports for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Â
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, with first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in December.
Â
Oregon State is 19-9 overall and 9-7 in conference play. The Beavers host No. 10 Washington this Friday at 6 p.m. and meet Washington State on Sunday at 3 p.m.
