Friday Civil War Headlines 2018 Schedule

Oregon State will play two of its first three games on the road and concludes the year with a rare Friday home game vs. Oregon as the Pac-12 Conference announced the 2018 football schedule Thursday.
The six-game home schedule includes dates with USC and Oregon for the first time since 2010. Reser Stadium and the Beavers will also host Southern Utah, Arizona, Washington State and California. The Oct. 20 visit by the Golden Bears will mark OSU's annual Homecoming weekend. The Ducks will visit Corvallis Friday, Nov. 23 in the first non-Saturday game in the series in Corvallis since 2010.
Oregon State will travel to Ohio State to open the season Sept. 1. The trip to Columbus marks the second time in three years that the Beavers have opened the year at a Big Ten Conference opponent and is the fourth consecutive season a foe from that league has matched up with Beavers.
The remaining road games include Nevada, Arizona State, Colorado, Stanford and Washington.

Schedule Notes
Sept. 1 at Ohio State – It's the third meeting between the two programs in games that have all been played in Columbus. The two programs met in the 1984 season opener at No. 6 Ohio State with the Buckeyes posting a come-from-behind 22-14 win – The Beavers led 14-6 at halftime in front of 88,072 spectators. Ohio State won the first meeting 51-10 in 1974.
Sept. 8 vs. Southern Utah – First meeting ever between the Beavers and Thunderbirds. Southern Utah won the 2015 Big Sky Conference title after joining the league in 2012. SUU is currently tied atop the Big Sky Conference standings and ranked No. 18 in the Football Championship Subdivision poll.
Sept. 15 at Nevada – OSU has won all three meetings, the last a 28-13 win Sept. 4, 1999 in Reno in then-head coach Dennis Erickson's debut for the Beavers. The win was one of seven that propelled OSU into the Oahu Bowl that season. OSU also won a 48-6 decision to open the 1998 season and a 15-0 win to conclude the 1903 season in Corvallis.
Sept. 22 vs Arizona – The game marks the first time the two programs have met each other to open Pac-12 play since 2009. The Wildcats will be coming off a home game vs. Southern Utah and previous games at Houston and their season opener at home vs. BYU. Arizona's first then-Pac-10 game ever was Sept. 16, 1978 in Tucson vs. OSU. The Beavers have won four of the last six meetings overall, including the last two in Corvallis. The winning team has scored at least 42 points the last three games. The OSU-UA series will continue through 2020 before the southern division Wildcats rotate off the Beavers' slate until 2023. The first Pac-12 Network televised OSU game was Sept. 29, 2012 in Tucson.
Sept. 29 at Arizona State – The Beavers return to Tempe for the first time since 2013 and marks the earliest date for the two programs to play at ASU since Sept. 22, 2007. The two play in the home season finale this Saturday at Reser Stadium with OSU having won five straight vs. ASU at Corvallis. The southern division Sun Devils will be on OSU's schedule through 2022. ASU will be coming off back-to-back road games at San Diego State and Washington next year before facing the Beavers.
Oct. 6 vs. Washington State – The game is the earliest WSU vs. OSU game in Corvallis since Oct. 6, 2012 – No. 14 OSU won that game 19-6. The Cougars have won four straight in the series after OSU had dominated earlier this century winning 10 games. WSU will have played Utah the week before in Pullman and opened the league slate two weeks prior at USC on a Friday.
Oct. 20 vs. California – Homecoming 2018 for OSU comes following the football team's lone bye week. The Bears arrive in Corvallis after a home game with UCLA. The series has been mostly owned by the Beavers winning 13 times since 1999.
Oct. 27 at Colorado – The southern division Buffaloes won't be on OSU's schedule following this game again until 2021. The 2017 game was the first for Beaver interim head coach Cory Hall. CU has won three straight overall in a series that resumes in Boulder next year for the sixth time in the 10-game history. The Buffaloes will be coming off back-to-back road games at USC and Washington prior to the Beavers' visit.
Nov. 3 vs. USC – OSU has won three of the last four in the series in Corvallis. The 2008 Beaver victory was over No. 1 USC and the 2006 win over the No. 3 Trojans. The game marks the first for USC at Reser Stadium since 2013. The southern divisions Trojans do not appear on the future OSU schedule until 2021 in Los Angeles. USC will be coming off a home game vs. Arizona State before traveling to OSU.
Nov. 10 at Stanford – The game marks the latest trip for the Cardinal since Nov. 12, 2005 to Corvallis. Stanford has the longest win streak of any Pac-12 opponent versus OSU at eight games. The Cardinal play three of its final four away with OSU being the last home game of the year.
Nov. 17 at Washington – The Huskies will be coming off a bye week – they have one of the only two byes in the league after week seven of the Pac-12 schedule. Washington has been the eighth league game on the OSU schedule three of the last five years.
Nov. 23 vs. Oregon – The first meeting on a Friday in Corvallis since 2006. OSU's new coach will be attempting to win the Civil War in their first attempt since Jerry Pettibone in 1991. The Ducks will also enter have a short week following a game at home vs. Arizona State.

- OSU opens on the road for the third consecutive season, marking the first time for such a three-game stretch since 1982-84. The 1984 game was at Ohio State – the last time the two programs have met.
- The Beavers' three road games in September are the most since a trio in 2004 (LSU, Boise State, Arizona State).
- Pac-12 play opens with Arizona for the first time since 2009.
- USC and Oregon play at Reser Stadium in the same season for the first time since 2010. OSU has defeated the Trojans three of the last four meetings in Corvallis.
- The 2018 meeting vs. Oregon marks the 20th anniversary of the famous 44-41 three-overtime thriller won by OSU in 1998 in what was the last game of the formerly named Parker Stadium.
- The season opener at Ohio State will mark the first time a new OSU coach has opened on the road since Dennis Erickson in 1999 at Nevada.
- OSU plays a Big Sky Conference school for the fifth consecutive year with Cal Poly on the docket in 2019.
- The Beavers play only one Pac-12 team that will be coming off a bye week – Washington.
- OSU has nearly a full month between road games between Sept. 29 at Arizona State and Oct. 27 at Colorado.
- The Beavers are one of nine Pac-12 teams to play back-to-back league road games during the course of the season.
- Utah and UCLA are the only Pac-12 teams not on OSU's schedule. Both return to the slate in 2019 with OSU hosting the Bruins and traveling to Salt Lake City.
