Buffin Inks Six to Class of 2018

Incoming class features three from Oregon and one from Romania
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State University swimming program added six new members to the 2018 class as announced by head coach Jennifer Buffin on Monday.
"The incoming class of 2018 reflects the commitment to bringing in the best talent," said Buffin. "It will ultimately help us be more competitive with the other top programs in the Pac-12.
I am also excited to sign three recruits from the state of Oregon. It is important for our staff to recruit and keep the local swimmers who fit the need of our program and the conference."
Erin Harvey – FR, Fr., 5-7, Bellevue, Wash. (Interlake H.S.)
Top Times: :24, :52, 1:54 FR
A three-time varsity letter winner, Harvey comes to Corvallis with a successful career at Interlake H.S. The Bellevue, Wash., native owns individual records in the 50 and 100 free, and helped her relay team claim records in the 200 and 400 free relays. Harvey is a two-time captain for Interlake as she enters her final season of competition.
The daughter of John and Valerie, Harvey intends to major in education as she attends Oregon State.
Rachel Pride – BR, Fr., 5-6, Santa Rosa, Calif. (Santa Rosa H.S.)
Top Times: 1:04, 2:19 BR
Another three-time varsity letter winner, Pride joins OSU after seeing plenty of success in the water for her club and high school teams. While at Santa Rosa H.S., Pride was a three-time selection to the Second Team All-League and made the finals at the CIF-NCS meet.
The daughter of Matthew and Ann, Pride intends to major in mechanical engineering at Oregon State.
Cali Rowland – BR, Fr., 5-10, Forest Grove, Ore. (Forest Grove H.S.)
Top Times: 1:05, 2:22 BR
A 2017 finalist at the Futures Championships in Santa Clara, Calif., Rowland comes to OSU to continue her career from Forest Grove H.S. At the 2017 Oregon 6A State Championships, Rowland placed second in the 100 breast and added a fifth-place finish in the 200 IM to wrap up her junior year.
The daughter of Chris and Susan, Rowland intends to major in kinesiology while at Oregon State.
Kristina Schneider – FR/FL, Fr., 5-3, Cluj-Napoca, Romania (CSM Brasov)
Top Times: :26.7, :57 FR / 1:02.7 FL (LCM)
A member of the Romanian National Team, Schneider comes to Corvallis after representing her country at several championships. Schneider placed fifth in both the 50 free and 100 fly while representing her country at the Balkan Junior Championships and also represented Romania at the European Junior Championships.
The daughter of Adam and Simona, Schneider intends to major in nutrition as she attends OSU.
Lindsay Swail – FR/BK/FL, Fr., 5-7, Portland, Ore. (Sunset H.S.)
Top Times: :23.6, :51.1 FR / :55, 2:02 BK / :55 FL
A four-year varsity letter winner, Swail comes to Oregon State with a team championship already under her belt. She was a member of the 2017 State Championship team at Sunset H.S. and helped set two 6A state relay records in 2016. For her performance in the pool, Swail was twice named to the First Team All-Metro while attending Sunset.
The daughter of Cade and Diana, Swail is currently undecided on her major as she attends OSU.
Lauren Yon – BR/BK/IM, Fr., 5-7, Sweet Home, Ore. (Sweet Home H.S.)
Top Times: 1:05, 2:21 BR / 2:04 BK
A three-year varsity letter winner at Sweet Home H.S., Yon joins the Beavers with plenty of titles under her belt. A three-time selection to the First Team All-State and First Team All-League, Yon owns 10 separate state championships between individual and relay events. Yon is a three-time state champion in the 200 IM, a three-time member of the state champion 200 and 400 free relay teams, and a state champion in the 100 breast.
The daughter of Jim and Angie, Yon will pursue a degree in psychology as she attends Oregon State.
"I feel confident that we are signing a class that will contribute to the future success of our program," added Buffin. "Especially with the work the coaching staff put in to recruit these student-athletes.
"This group is excited to be representing Beaver Nation and we are looking forward to the next step in the success of the swimming program at Oregon State."
The Beavers return to the pool on Friday, December 1, for the first day of the 2017 Husky Invite.
