Oregon State Men’s Rowing Heads North for Portland Fall Classic

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's rowing team is back in action this weekend at the biggest fall race in the state for the Portland Fall Classic in Portland, Ore. The Beavers return to the water after an impressive fourth place finish at the 53rd Head of the Charles Regatta last weekend.
"This is a fun race for us," said head coach Gabe Winkler. "It's Oregon's biggest head race and the guys love going up to Portland to show what Oregon State is all about."
Oregon State will enter four boats into the Men's Varsity 4+, and two boats in the Men's Collegiate 2-.
"This will be the first race for some of the freshman as Beavers," continued Winkler. "They are pumped."
COURSE: The 5,000-meter head race runs behind the east side of Ross Island, ending just before the Steel Bridge on the Willamette River.
SPECTATORS: There is fantastic viewing on the sidewalks of Hawthorne Bridge or anywhere along the Eastbank Esplanade, admission for the event is free, however parking for this event is available for $5, cash.
RACE TIMES: The Men's Varsity 4+ begins at 10:50 a.m., with the Men's Collegiate 2- to follow shortly after at 11:02 a.m.
