Beavers Ready For Three-Day Tournament

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's golf team returns to the links to compete at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational Thursday through Saturday in Stockton, Calif.

FIELD (20): Oregon State, Boise State, BYU, Cal State Northridge, Denver, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Long Beach State, Nevada, Pacific, Pacific B, St. Mary's, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Seattle, South Dakota, Temple, UC Irvine and UC Riverside.

COURSE: The tournament will be held at the par-72, 7,082-yard Reserve at Spanos Park.

BEAVERS' LINEUP: Oregon State will go with a lineup of senior Jonas Liebich, junior Trevor Yu, sophomores Kyosuke Hara and Shawn Lu, and freshman Spencer Tibbits.

FORMAT: Three-day, 54-hole tournament with 18 holes each day. The top-four individuals from each five-member team with the lowest scores for each 18-hole round constitute the scoring members for that given round.

TEE TIMES: The Beavers will tee off beginning at 8:50 a.m. on Thursday and be paired with Boise State, Pacific and Seattle.

LAST TIME OUT: Shawn Lu and Spencer Tibbits each fired a 5-under 66 in the final round of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational to lead the Oregon State men's golf team to a strong finish.

The Beavers carded a 12-under 272 in the final round to move two spots up the leaderboard and finish seventh in the 16-team field with a 15-under 280-285-272--837. The 12 under equals the fifth-lowest single-round score in program history.

Tibbits posted a top-10 finish for the second straight tournament with a sixth-place showing. He finished the two-day, 54-hole tournament with an 11-under 68-68-66—202, equaling the fifth-lowest three-round score in school history.

He began his collegiate career with a tie for ninth place at the Mark Simpson Invitational and has been under par in five of his first six rounds this season.

Lu had the best round of his career in the final round that helped him jump 25 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 21st place with a 3-under 75-69-66--210.
Â
His previous best single-round and three-round scores were a 1-under 71 (four times) and a 2-over 218 at The Jackrabbit last fall.
Â
Trevor Yu finished in a tie for 29th place with a 1-under 68-74-70--212, Jonas Liebich posted a 3-over 72-74-70--216 (t-46) and Kyosuke Hara shot an 8-over 72-76-73—221 (t-68) at the par-71, 6,734-yard Meadow Club.

California won the team title with a 41-under 811 and the Golden Bears' K.K. Limbhasut claimed medalist honors with a 15-under 198.
