
Nick Madrigal Earns Another Preseason Honor

Madrigal batted .333 with 11 doubles, five triples and 29 RBI as a freshman
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Nick Madrigal has been named a preseason First-Team All-American at second base by Baseball America on Monday.

Madrigal, who was the Pac-12 Conference's Freshman of the Year in 2016, readies for his sophomore campaign after batting .333 with 11 doubles, five triples, one home run, 29 runs batted in and eight stolen bases in his first season in Corvallis. He hit .316 in Pac-12 play, with six doubles, five triples and 10 RBI.

Baseball America polls Major League Baseball scouting departments to determine its preseason All-America squad. Per the publication, 17 of the 30 MLB organizations participated this season.

The honor is the second of the preseason for Madrigal, who was also named a first teamer by Perfect Game in early January.

Oregon State opens the 2017 season Feb. 17 in Surprise, Ariz., when taking on Duke to start the Sanderson Ford College Baseball Classic.
