SEATTLE – Junior Kerissa D'Arpino and sophomore Juliana Mount set school records on Saturday to pace the Oregon State track & field team on Day 2 of the Washington Invitational at the Dempsey Indoor Center.
D'Arpino set a school record of 7.58 in the 60 meters in the semifinals, breaking the former mark of 7.71 she shared with Allie Church. She then placed eighth in 7.68 in the finals.
"Kerissa ran unbelievable, she broke the old school record three times," as she also ran 7.70 in the opening round of qualifying, OSU coach Kelly Sullivan said. "That's outstanding."
Mount ran 9:33.62 in the 3,000 to break Laura Carlyle's old mark of 9:35.99, set back in 2011. Morgan Anderson finished just behind her in 9:43.76, OSU's fourth-best time in that event. It was also her first indoor 3,000.
"For JJ to break Laura Carlyle's record in the first 3K she has ever run is incredible," Sullivan said. "Laura is the best middle-distance runner in our history," and was a two-time All-American.
