Orum scores 16 as Oregon State tops Colorado 81-57
CORVALLIS- The No. 11/12 Oregon State women's basketball team notched an 81-57 win over the Colorado Buffalos Sunday afternoon, with four players scoring in double figures.
"It took a great effort from us, we really moved the ball well today," said Oregon State head coach Scott Rueck. "We had balance in scoring all throughout the box score. We were aggressive and I liked our unselfishness; it was fun to see that ball go in like it did. Another great day in Gill with that crowd, and a good win."
Senior Kolbie Orum went 6-for-8, scoring a career-high tying 16 points and earning six rebounds in 29 minutes. Freshman Kat Tudor hit on 4-for-8 from behind the 3-point line to finish the game with 14 points and four assists.
Senior Sydney Wiese ended the game with 13 points, seven rebounds, and an impressive nine assists, while redshirt junior Breanna Brown added ten points, shooting 3-for-5 on the night. Junior Marie Gulich narrowly missed her fourth-straight double-double, going for nine points and 13 rebounds.
Oregon State held Colorado to 32.3 percent shooting (21-for-65), and had a 40-18 advantage in points off the bench. The Beavers held a 48-31 edge in rebounds and provided assists on 24 of their 29 made field goals. Oregon State shot 46.8 from the floor, including a 12-for-16 third quarter.
The Beavers and Buffalos traded buckets early on before Oregon State took the lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Oregon State went on 7-0 run in the middle of the third to extend the lead to 21.
The Buffalos cut the Oregon States advantage to 11 mid-way through the third frame, but Oregon State responded with a jumper by sophomore Katie McWilliams to retake the momentum. OSU held the Buffalos to ten fourth quarter points to take the win by 24 points.
