
Delgado, Griego, Crawford in national rankings

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State junior 149-pounder Joey Delgado and sophomore 197-pounder Corey Griego are ranked by InterMat, The Open Mat and the Amateur Wrestling News this week.
Delgado (12-6) is ranked No. 13 by The Open Mat and Amateur Wrestling News, and No. 18 by InterMat. He pinned at Northern Colorado on Jan. 13 in his lone match this past weekend.
Griego (15-7) is ranked No. 14 by The Open Mat, No. 18 by InterMat and No. 20 by Amateur Wrestling News. He won decisions at Northern Colorado and Wyoming this past weekend.
Junior heavyweight Cody Crawford (15-4) is ranked 15th by The Open Mat. He pinned in both of his matches at UNC and Wyoming.
The Beavers were not ranked in the Top 25 in the USA Today/National Wrestling Coaches Association's poll, which was also released on Tuesday.
Oklahoma State was ranked No. 1 by USA Today/NWCA, followed by Penn State, Iowa, Ohio State and Virginia Tech. Future OSU opponents in the rankings were Rutgers (11), Oklahoma (14), Arizona State (20) and Stanford (21). Drexel dropped out of the top-25 but also received votes.
Also, heavyweight David Henry took first place and new 184-pounder Seth McLeod took second place on Sunday at the Boxer Open at Pacific University in Forest Grove.
Henry defeated Stephen Wilbert of Warner Pacific by injury default in the championship match. He was 4-0 overall, with three pins.
A transfer from Boise State who joined the program at the winter quarter, McLeod lost 4-2 in sudden victory to Ajay Gill of Douglas College in his title match. He was 3-1, with one pin.
Joseph DeMatteo (165) advanced to the third round of the consolation bracket and went 2-2 with a pin. Heavyweight Josh Parazoo went 4-2 and advanced to the consolation semifinals before being eliminated.
The Beavers resume action vs. No. 11 Rutgers at 4 p.m. Friday. They conclude the road trip at 4 p.m. Saturday against Drexel in Philadelphia.
They start Pac-12 action against No. 21 Stanford on Jan. 30 with a 7 p.m. dual at Gill Coliseum that will be televised by the Pac-12 Network. They are five-time defending Pac-12 champions.
This year's Pac-12 Championships are Feb. 26, at Stanford. The NCAA Championships are March 16-18 at St. Louis.
