Pivec Earns Second Pac-12 Freshman of the Week Honor

Lynnwood, Wash. native matches most Freshman honors by an OSU player
CORVALLIS – Oregon State guard Mikayla Pivec has earned her second Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honor, the conference office announced Monday.
Pivec, who also earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors on Dec. 25, matches Sydney Wiese and Jamie Weisner for the most Freshman of the Week nods by a Beaver since the award was instituted in 2012-13. Pivec tallied 10 points against USC on Sunday, shooting an efficient 3-for-5 from the floor in just 18 minutes of playing time. The bio-health sciences major also pulled down six rebounds and dished out two assists in the contest. Pivec started the week off by going for nine points, six rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block against UCLA on Friday.
The freshman is averaging 8.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game this season, and has tallied 11.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest since she entered the starting lineup nine games ago.
The Beavers are currently 16-2 on the season and 5-1 in Pac-12 play. Oregon State came in at No. 11 in Monday's Associated Press rankings. The Beavers will return home to Gill Coliseum on Friday, when they host Utah at 8 p.m.
