Beavers Receive Second Preseason Top 10 Ranking

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State baseball team will open the season ranked seventh according to Perfect Game.

It's the second top 25 ranking to place the Beavers in the top 10 after Collegiate Baseball announced in December OSU will open at No. 5.

Per Perfect Game, TCU will open the season at No. 1, followed by LSU, Florida State, Florida and South Carolina. Louisville is No. 6, then Oregon State, Ole Miss at eighth, Vanderbilt at No. 9 and East Carolina rounds out the top 10.

Overall, the Pac-12 Conference has four teams in the top 25. Stanford is 16^th, Washington 18^th and Arizona ranks 25^th.

Oregon State is slated to return seven of its nine position starters from last season, and two starting pitchers – Bryce Fehmel and Luke Heimlich – from the weekend rotation that shut out UCLA over the three-game series. It was the first time in school history the Beavers had shut out the same team three consecutive games.

Fehmel, Nick Madrigal and KJ Harrison have all been named preseason All-Americans by either Collegiate Baseball or Perfect Game.

Oregon State opens the 2017 season Feb. 17 in Surprise, Ariz., when taking on Duke to open the Sanderson Ford College Baseball Classic.
