12 Gymnasts Earn Scholastic All-Americans

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Twelve Oregon State gymnasts were named Scholastic All-Americans by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) announced this week.

The Beavers' 2016 Scholastic All-Americans include juniors Silvia Colussi-Pelaez, Madeline Gardiner, Megan Jimenez, Kaytianna McMillan and Taylor Ricci, sophomores Dani Dessaints and Shireen Khamedoost and freshmen Mariana Colussi-Pelaez, Mary Jacobsen and McKenna Singley. In addition, former OSU gymnasts Kana Kobayashi and Jaime Wright, both of whom retired early due to injuries, also received scholastic recognition.

Oregon State posted a team grade point average of 3.6019, ranking as the 11th highest overall gymnastics team GPA in the nation. The Beavers were seventh in the nation with 75 percent of the team earning individual honors for posting a GPA of 3.50 or higher during the 2015-16 academic year.

It is the fourth award for Wright, who recently graduated with a degree in biology from OSU's Honors College. It is the third such award for Silvia Colussi-Pelaez, Gardiner, Kobayashi, McMillan and Ricci. Dessaints and Khamedoost are two-time recipients.
