Oregon State gymnastics student-athlete Taylor Ricci has been appointed as a member of the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Ricci will serve as the Pac-12 representative to the committee, which consists of one student-athlete from each conference.
Â
"I'm beyond excited to represent the Pac-12 Conference along with Oregon State on the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee," Ricci said. "The athletic department here at Oregon State has helped me open so many doors this last year and I'm looking forward to having my voice aid in enhancing and promoting the well-being of student-athletes throughout the country."
Â
The Division I SAAC mission statement is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by protecting student-athlete well-being, fostering a positive student-athlete image and inclusive student-athlete environment, and promoting student-athlete engagement at the national, conference and local levels.
Â
The appointment is for two years and begins immediately. Ricci's first order of business will be conducted at a national conference in Indianapolis, Ind. July 15-17.
Â
Ricci has been an integral part of OSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) holding the position of Public Relations Officer in 2015-16 and will be the president in 2016-17. She is also the Pac-12 SAAC Chairperson Elect, and is involved in the Relay for Life and OSU Gymnastics' Pink Out activities among other community service activities.
Â
The senior-to-be from North Vancouver, B.C., also has an impact on the competition floor. Ricci earned spots in the Beavers' vault and floor exercise lineups in 2016 posting career-bests of 9.875 (floor), 9.825 (vault) and 9.500 (beam).
